Barn finds and running original pickup trucks from the 1960s and 1970s are very rare. Pickup trucks and light commercial vehicles usually do more than drive to church on Sundays. They usually only live a tough 2 to 5 year period in heavy commercial periods before they are written down from the company register and sold off. By this time, a truck would have covered more than 250,000 hard miles over rough country roads or harsh stop-start city traffic conditions. Many pickups and commercials are full restorations because they are usually discovered in wrecking yards or ranch paddocks with rusted floors, broken chassis, and stripped of any engine part that might have been useful enough as a spare for another pickup. If you see an original – unmolested by customization or restoration, grab it if you can. It’s going to be a rare classic for sure!
